Just when calm was my desire... The first time I heard of the books title, I asked myself in bewilderment, "can a book be titled 'Lonliness is an Orange'?" and as scholarly studies reveal that curiosity compels us to make some pretty terrible decisions, my curiosity got me get a hold of this book and trust me reading from one to the other piece my bewilderment got assured that there couldn't have been any other apt title than this and i thank my curiosity for making one of the prettiest decisions. The poetess has so delicately woven life making each and every piece sit in "the right places"(pp.1 Lonliness is an Orange)
I get reminded of my loved quote 'At the touch of love, everyone becomes a poet' (Plato) and my soul imagines of how wonderfully has Emisen J fallen in love with all the realities of life be it identity, tradition, feminism, despair, family-bond, joy, togetherness and even lonliness delicately spun and garmented....and, to add-on, the beautiful tone of rhythm, free verse, onamatopoeia, anaphora, personification and many others I read in the poems got me back to the days of Chris Baldick's- Dictionary of Literary Terms. The poems educate the mind- feed the soul.
And as I turned to the last page I felt the pain of 'endings' and "sometimes, even endings can be disappointing"(pp.16 Lonliness is an Orange) tuned to my head.
EMI, "I spell your name backwards"(pp.9 Lonliness is an Orange) as 'I M(am) Eternity' because the thoughts and feels of your pretty heart is going to resound for eternity and eternity and...... ....and now i am off to T. Keditsu's 'Sopfünuo'. Note: Sacrilege if I don't acknowledge Ilandlo E-care for always making the 'Desired Calm' possible and most importantly Lima, the delivery man. Thank you Ilando.
