Here is a 7 year difference with my dad and I. I'm 160 pounds on the left and 170 pounds on the right at about the same body fat percentage. 10 pounds in 7 years? Am I natty? 😱Most of the weight went to my back and legs which obviously isn't visible here. My dad looks about the same which I think he is pretty satisfied with (especially the full head of hair in his 50's😁).

🙌The scale is a great tool to track progress. In fact it is a necessary one to assess if your plan is correct and how to make necessary adjustments moving from week to week. But, I think an obsession with the numbers can become quite harmful when trying to transform either in a gaining or cutting phase

💥Those who are cutting down, never want to drop below a certain number, they often think that if they lose X amount they will look too small and lose too much size. The reality though is that you often have to lose more weight than you think. When I started my transformation I was 220lbs and refused the idea of having to go below 180. Ultimately I finished my cut at 160lbs and the photo on the right is my current shape during the reverse phase having gained a bit of extra muscle, water, and fat

📝For those bulking and looking to gain muscle, many make the common mistake of setting big scale number goals and chasing them arbitrarily. The reality, especially if you are natural, and depending on how long you have been training, you probably won’t gain 50lbs of muscle in 6 months to a year. This is a sure-fire way to gain way too much fat during a bulking phase and it happened to me twice. When I was 16 I gained 40 pounds in 4 months… Needless to say not a whole lot of it was muscle

💪 When it comes to actual body composition goals, use the mirror as your goal and the scale as your guide. Both work together, but the scale is simply a means of tracking progress. Notice how the more weight I lost the more muscular I appeared, the illusion of bodybuilding
