March 15th aka 'The Ides of March' was 'National Kick Butts Day.' I mistakenly believed it was about kicking ass and taking names, but it's some sort of anti-smoking campaign. / I might have said it before, but wouldn't it make much more sense to take names and THEN kick butts? / Anyhoo, when I think of kicking butts, I think of getting kicked in the face by Tura Luna Pascual Yamaguchi, other known as Tura Satana - actress, vedette, and exotic dancer. / What in the heck is a 'vedette'? / Don't ask me, it was on Tura's Wikipedia page. / Now I'm really curious what a 'vedette' is... Merriam-Webster states that it is 'a mounted sentinel stationed in advance of pickets.' That makes zero sense. Wikipedia states that it is a cabaret-related term for 'female entertainers with multiple talents for singing, dancing, or acting' and then goes on to say that, in the United States, it is fancy-talk for a 'showgirl.' Fascinating. / Where was I? Yes - I keep forgetting to mention the KICKSTARTER campaign for a DOCUMENTARY about TURA! / Go to the Kickstarter site, search for 'Tura,' and throw some money in its general direction. / As my paternal grandfather would say - 'be a pal.'
