Sharing and spreading the love #nationalautismday

Did you know, many adults on the spectrum live and work independently? Did you know "shyness" or perceived "oddness" can actually be characteristics of Autism?
Become a leader in your work place or community. Use your socks as a way to show support and as a conversation starter. Who knows, maybe you'll change the experience of someone close to you.

Give a gift that gives more. Support SARRC and families with autism with the purchase of our Puzzle Peace sock. @SARRC.Moderator @sarrc_social @SARRC_tweet

You support autism. So we support you. Every purchase of Puzzle Peace gives $5 to Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center, whose mission is to assist families in their journey once their child has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) through adulthood.

April is here and that means #autism awareness month! We are honored to be partnered with Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center to help raise awareness about autism. This week 50% of all Puzzle Peace sock purchases will go back to SARRC to support their services across a lifetime model including their cutting edge unique inclusive preschool. #worldautismawarenessday

April is Autism Awareness Month 💙 No this is not a travel picture, but I am a teacher and autism spectrum disorders are more common than ever before. •
In case you didn’t know, here are the most common signs and symptoms of ASD:
✅Not responding to their name
✅Avoid making eye contact
✅Not pointing at objects of interest
✅No or delayed speech
✅Upset by minor changes in routine
✅Obsessive interests
✅Flapping their hands, spinning in circles, or rocking their bodies (stimming)
✅Unusual sensory reactions (taste, smell, touch, sound, sight)
✅Resisting physical contact
✅Low social skills

I am not a doctor or psychologist and cannot diagnose a child with autism spectrum disorders. But if you are concerned, please speak with a professional.👩‍⚕️

But more than awareness, what I would truly love to see more of is ACCEPTANCE💙🌈 As Dr. Temple Grandin says, “There needs to be a lot more emphasis on what a child can do instead of what he cannot do.” #autismawarenessmonth #autismawareness #autismadvocate #autismacceptance #autism #asd #teachersofinstagram #nationalautismday #lightitupblue #liub #worldautismmonth #autismrocks #iteachautism #autismteacher #spedteacher #neurodiversity #specialeducationteacher #mondaymotivation #mondayblues

Students with autism often have difficulty generalizing skills outside of the teaching environment. So, to address this, we have to make sure that we teach skills with different materials, in different situations and with different instructions. This keeps them from getting stuck. Always ask the question of how this skill will be used regularly in the student's everyday life. #autismteacher #specialeducation #iteachsped #sped #teachersfollowteachers #gored #teachersofinstagram #autism #autismacceptancewithTpT #autismacceptance #autismawareness #lightitupblue #nationalautismday #autismawarenessday #WAAD #WorldAutismAwarenessDay #WorldAutismMonth #AutismAwarenessDay #UntilEveryoneUnderstands #autismsiblings #autismrocks #autismadvocate #asd #autismteacher #iteachautism #iteachsped #neurodiversity
