I don't know why #smita and #naseer didn't get their due for #bazaar. Another film which never got its due I think. The perfect screenplay, what assured direction, amazing music and performances. In particular I recall #shaukatazmi as the marriage broker and the young tender suriya pathak who stole everyone's heart. Ofcourse the film ultimately belongs to smi and naseer. #Bazaar is evocative as it is instructional. Hitting out at the prevalent practise of young girls being married off to rich sheikhs to save their families from imminent poverty. Especially stand out is Naseer's fiery outburst on the rocks railing against the injustice of it all while a mute Smita watches, her pain mirrored in her eyes. The young #farooqueshaikh is so earnest that you immediately want to protect him from more wrongdoing. #bazaar is somewhat dispiriting despite being emotionally moving.
