Time. There is the time it takes resting, walking, talking. Immersing yourself into your inner world to come up with an idea. Then there's the sketching- the hours of this or that, changing your mind, drawing the idea out into the open. Then the filling it in- each loving and perfecting stroke over hours and hours of patient hunching at your desk trying to coax a myth into reality. Then the time to take care of yourself-- eating, sleeping, exercising. There are the times it wasn't working; eons of starting over or hoping you could fix it or turn it into something else. And then suddenly you have it. It's there, fully immersed in the world. So now it's the time it takes to scan and stitch, to clean, edit, document. Do all the math (something that is not natural to you) for the matt boards and custom frames. There's the piecing those together, removing all the cat hair, trimming, fudging it up, trimming again- redo, redocument. Then there's the hanging, the wall painting - or maybe the packaging and shipping, custom boxes! Pulling out hair!- and the time it takes to go find yourself something to wear you feel stellar in so you can have the costume on to help socialize all night on one big momentous event celebrating all this... time. It's been building and passing for months now and in four short days we all get to celebrate it together. Can't wait to see y'all at @antlerpdx May 25th for "Under the Harrow" with @kaspianshore and @allisonsommers.
