#Reclaimed eastern white pine is a soft, gentle wood with coloration ranging from a light #blonde to deep #chestnut tones. #Traditionally associated with the #NewEngland #farmhouse, this unpretentious #reclaimedwood provides an #ambiance of warmth and comfort offered by few other species.
Once felled in near-entirety throughout New England and beyond, #oldgrowth white pine is now a particularly rare and coveted lumber – especially in the traditional wider-plank format. Virgin white pine has been aggressively harvested since the colonial era, when the British Royal Navy infamously requisitioned particularly fine specimens for use as masts. Today, white pine is farmed, but is sawn for lumber as quickly as possible, giving it an entirely different look and feel than product milled from salvaged old-growth timber.
Longleaf mills white pine in two distinct grades: Rustic White Pine and Pumpkin Pine. Both are milled in square-edge profile, with widths from 4”-14”. These boards are generally milled to 3/4” thickness and 2’-14’ lengths.
Pumpkin Pine is clean, contains few #nailholes, and will finish to a fine #goldencolor.
#RusticWhitePine contains more #knots, nail holes, and checking to present diverse visual elements of character and use.
Skip-planed white pine is also available.
