ARE YOU SELF - MOTIVATED?
When you do not have people cheering for you and encouraging you to give in your best, how do you stay motivated in your most trying times?
You do not have a choice but to motivate yourself and constantly find ways to achieve your goals with or without support from others. People can only push you so far, the bulk of the work rests on your shoulders.
But what does it mean to be motivated?
Motivation has to do with the factors that make or pushes one to perform in a certain way. It is concerned with why people do or refrain from doing things.
In psychology, it encompasses 3 components; • Direction of behavior - which refers to what the person tries to do or achieve.
• Effort or Intensity of behavior - refers to is how hard the individual works in the direction.
• Persistence - the individual’s eagerness to continue trying regardless of stumbling blocks he may face.
In essence, you must have a goal (or goals) that you are willing to work very hard to achieve for whatever amount of time it takes regardless of the setbacks you’ll encounter to make it a reality.
What’s more, most employers’ desire highly motivated employees because they are generally thought to create more value and deliver higher performance.
So, are you highly motivated?
