Circa: 2012 #tbt
🍍We all started some where. Most try and try until they find their niche or gracefully find their calling or ministry and then some are pushed, stumble, and fill a need that they fall into💁🏾♀️ and realize they love it😅. 🍍I started living at an orphanage and volunteering full time there in 2012. Can I be honest, yo I was only was interested in working with the little kids. I made sure my boss, the director and friend knew....🙋🏾♀️me and the older girls (who were 11-12 at the time) were not to work together because I had NO patience! I’d rather bless them with distance👉🏿👋🏿 then always be butting heads.🙆🏾♀️ As time passed I noticed a BIG age gap in the girls. The older girls found the younger girls annoying (which is normal of any fam), always did majority of cleaning and organizing and the little girls had no idea how to do anything🤔. So coming from #greeklife my sorority had moms and daughters (or bigs and littles) so I created a system based off of that to help the older girls learn #leadership skills and #patience and the younger girls learned #responsibility and ultimately that there was a bond created between the girls 😍.And yea it worked. Lol. Thankfully.
That was my first mentoring “program” I guess you could say.
From that point I wish I could say my eyes were open and I JUST knew this was my calling. Nah, I went back to working with just the little ones and keeping my loving distance from the pre-teen/teens. 😆. I didn’t purposely work with teens again until 2 years later.
I stayed hard-headed with God. Thankgooooodness He is patient!
