This was the theme of my guided meditation this morning. I was reminded that there is more than enough to go around. There’s more than enough wealth, joy, abundance, and prosperity for all of us. We just need to stay open to it. Because here’s the thing, sometimes all of that wealth, joy, abundance and prosperity comes to us in ways we could never have imagined. And if we’re wed to one idea of success, wealth or joy then we close ourselves off to the thousands of other ways it could be delivered to us. So stay open and let the universe deliver to you.

When we work together, when we are united, when we lift each other up we are limitless. My daily meditation and gratitude practice helps me let go of judgment and comparison. Here’s something I know for sure, we are all the same. We are all afraid, fearful, not enough, too fat, too skinny, too busy, overwhelmed, shitty moms. I’ve been there. I know you have too. You guys I have a confession. I cannot go grocery shopping without being a judgmental bitch. It’s a side effect from having been in nutritional therapy school for the last 6 months. The more I know, the more frustrated I am with the business of corporations feeding Americans. The labels of “healthy” and “all-natural” are stuck onto all kinds of packaging and when you read the label it contains 30 grams of sugar (more than we should have in a day) or chemicals and preservatives that are known to cause cancer.

I want to do more. I want everyone to know how to eat to properly nourish their bodies so that they don’t feel pain or inflammation or suffer from sugar cravings. And I want our kids to eat better too. I want you all to know MORE and do more.

What’s interesting to me is that this program has revealed to me the things I don’t like to work on, like legs. I can write a killer workout and make you sweat and wish you hadn’t started but it’s not going to be heavily concentrated on legs, because I HATE LEG DAYS. However, the benefit of switching things up and following someone else’s routine every once in a while is that I have to do what they tell me to do. I can’t say no. And I don’t.

Let me say it again, gratitude can change your life. Just starting your day off by listing three things you’re grateful for will set the tone for a more abundant day. It releases you from keeping up with the Jones’s because you focus on all the good you already have. It doesn’t take long. It doesn’t have to be a chore or add more time to the list of things you already have to do for the day. But practicing gratitude taps into your intentional thinking and you start viewing the world as supportive rather than competitive.

16 SECONDS TO CLARITY

This is THE simplest tool you can use to begin meditating and can be the foundation for a long-lasting meditation practice.

Think of something that has irritated or bothered you in the past few days. Is it something someone has said to you that’s bothered you? A disappointment or unmet expectation? Don’t go deep, this isn’t meant to be therapy? Just think of something annoying that’s happened this week. Envision the other person’s face. Replay the moment in your mind’s eye. Take a few moments to settle into that space.

Now, take a long, slow, deep breath in through your nostrils and as you do, slowly count to four and OBSERVE the air as it enters your nostrils and passes to the back of your throat and into your lungs and your belly. Feel your belly expand. OBSERVE your belly being filled and hold that breath to the count of four. Just watch the breath sit in your body and your belly as you silently count. Now slowly, to the count of four, release your breath while you watch it leave your body from your belly, back up through your lungs and chest, up through your throat and out your nostrils. When that last wisp of air leaves your nostrils, hold that empty breath the count of four. OBSERVE IT, WATCH IT SILENTLY, WITNESS IT as it disappears into the air.
Now breathe normally. Try that with your eyes closed and do it twice.
That lasted for 32 seconds. And in that half a minute while you were observing your breath, you were totally present. You weren’t thinking about past grievances or regrets. You weren’t worrying. You weren’t making lists. You weren’t thinking about your irritation. YOU WERE TOTALLY IN THE PRESENT MOMENT.

Your mind is clearer. Your heartbeat has slowed a bit and you’ve filled your body with heavily oxygenated blood and nourishing hormones. You’ve also released a little bit of stress.
The technical term for this exercise or meditation is a pattern interrupt. This process allows you to break the flow of negative and conditioned physical and emotional responses.

Give yourself permission to feel worn out and exhausted. And then give yourself permission to feel better.

Here’s the trick though. While you’re feeling worn out and exhausted you have to be mindful of how you’re going to move past it. It requires intention both to let go and to restore yourself. .
.
So give yourself 30 minutes alone. Meditate. Talk to a friend. Watch a stupid show. Take a bath. Journal. Get your nails done. Book a massage. Take a walk outside.
.
.
You have to be able to care for yourself before you can lovingly care for others. It’s like when the airline attendants tell you to put on your mask first, before you help anyone else. Make self-care a priority. Schedule it like a date and don’t stand yourself up.
