Stop ruminating and start acting. I repeat this to myself when I get stuck in worry-mode. Even if it’s a small action, take it. It will help you get out of your head and into the present moment.

I know it’s not always possible because we are busy living life and surviving but it’s so important to do what you love.

It took me a long time to embrace what I love to do because I figured there were already 1,000 people doing it. And not only were they doing it but they were doing it better than I could.

Oh yes I did. Prosecco and Italian bread. Oh baby, I am enjoying this Italian vacation. Indulging. Drinking it in. Moving my body. Walking everywhere! But for the rest of the week I’m parked here in Sorrento to soak up the sun and wine.

Today was a travel day so I only did abs and push-ups in the flat before we left. And I fasted until after 2pm. It makes traveling so much easier not to have to think about what to eat or where to get good food.

Being out of our routine is amazing. It’s making me focus on my little tribe. And while Italy hasn’t magically cured my kids (one kid, especially) of their attitudes, it sure does make it easier to stomach. Maybe that’s the prosecco talking, but who gives a shit, right?!

So I’m thankful for Italy; prosecco; gelato; pizza; focaccia; family; espresso; long walks; exploring; and quiet mornings with kids still sleeping.

I practice gratitude because it fills me up. It makes me appreciate everything I have in my life. It helps me stop comparing myself to others. It forces me, in a good way, to appreciate ALL the beautiful things around me. I promise that practicing gratitude changes your life in unimaginable ways.

Sunday run-day. I have a love-hate relationship with running. I love it because it’s the best bang for your buck in terms of a cardio workout. However, I hate it because, well, it’s running. I also hate it because it makes my hips and hamstring hurt like a mutherfkr.

Today I’m running because I have to. Today, my middle kid had an explosive meltdown. I’m not exaggerating - threw a toy truck into the wall and broke the drywall.

Running is my meditation today. I’m running to interrupt how I would reflexively react in this situation. I’m running to create a pattern-interrupt, to create distance between myself and my reaction. I’m running because I love that kid and he deserves compassion.
