Lateral epicondalgia better known as tennis elbow is caused by an overactivity of the wrist extensors. But how did that occur? Well it usually relates to either a lack of strength or mobility in the shoulder external rotators and how that relates to the scapula position. Therefore the fix? Isometric loading (but not isotonic) of the shoulder external rotators whilst you give the wrist extensors something else to do that’s easy (read a light resistance band eccentric contraction). The wrist can’t stabilize the shoulder when it’s performing an eccentric contraction. Therefore retrain it this way. It works wonders. As part of the weekly recipe, honoring the Halabi community super dish
Kibbeh Nia (Bulgur and lentils)

Ingredients:
A cup of red lentils, A cup bulgur glass, Green onion, finely chopped 2 dry onions, finely chopped, handful of parsley leaves, chopped, Olive oil, Salt, 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 1/2 teaspoon spicy red paprika.

Rinse the lentils thoroughly. Cook the lentils with about 2 cups of water until softened and softened. Place the bulgur in a bowl and gradually add the lentils with the water. Wait until all the water has been absorbed. At the same time, put 2 spoons olive oil in a pan and fry one of the onions until golden. After Cooling, mix the lentils, the bulgur, green onion, dry and fried onions in a large bowl. Season with salt, cumin and paprika. Mix the ingredients well until the mixture is uniform. Taste and adjust seasoning. Make small long round shape kibbeh from the mixture.
Serving suggestion:
Served with green tehina / fresh vegetable salad

במסגרת המתכון השבועי עושים כבוד לעדה החלאבית 🙌

קובה ניא (בורגול ועדשים)

מרכיבים:
כוס עדשים כתומות
כוס בורגול דק
בצל ירוק, קצוץ דק
2 בצל יבש, קצוץ דק
חופן עלי פטרוזיליה, קצוצים
שמן זית
מלח
1/2 כפית כמון
1/2 כפית פפריקה אדומה חריפה

אופן ההכנה:
שוטפים היטב את העדשים. מבשלים את העדשים עם כ-2 כוסות מים עד שהן מתרככות ונמעכות בקלות.
שמים את הבורגול בקערה ומוסיפים בשלבים את העדשים עם המים. ממתינים  עד שכל המים נספגים והבורגול מתרכך.
במקביל, מחממים שמן זית במחבת ומטגנים את אחד הבצלים עד להזהבה.
לאחר צינון, מערבבים בקערה גדולה את העדשים, הבורגול, בצל ירוק, בצל יבש ומטוגן. מתבלים במלח, כמון ופפריקה. לשים את המרכיבים היטב עד לקבלת תערובת אחידה. טועמים ומתקנים תיבול.
יוצרים מהתערובת קובות קטנות.

להגיש לצד טחינה ירוקה/סלט ירקות רענן

I love working with and supporting motivated athletes to help them achieve their best. Here we have @sarahbangsruns26.2 working to improve her motor recruitment patterns in preparation for her half-marathon. In the top video we see increased recruitment of her lumbar musculature to perform hip extension, instead of using her hip extensors (Gluteus Maximus). When running long distances, this sub-optimal motor recruitment reduces the propulsion power of the left leg and can lead to slower race times (best case) and pain/injury (worst case). In the bottom video we see that placing her lumbar spine in a right lateral flexion bias reduces her recruitment of the lumbar musculature and therefor allows her to recruit her glute max.
