Life is fun. I giggled so hard when I awoke to this view in a city I didn't at ALL intend to visit after missing my home-away-from-home bus stop, resulting in a really curiously far-away detour. I say curiously because this isn't a common occurrence for me. Missing stops. Despite the state of my constant electronic-cord-madness, I'm an extremely organized, responsible, and attentive go-with-the-frugal-flow traveler—meaning, I think 8 steps ahead but plan minimally-if at all, I pay the fuck attention to details, I graciously accept gifts the universe presents, I take responsibility that all moments are my creation, and I keep my stuff paired-down + orderly. So it made my unkempt eyebrow raise when I realized I created this. Admittedly, there's that slow-mo moment when I thought ohhhh shiiiit thaaat wasss mmmy stoppp wherrre arrre we goinggg? Then I got really hot (Pedro), even though nothing changed except my perception—the thought that I had 2 MORE hours of standing on a standing-room-only crowded bus plowing towards an unknown city made me sweat—totally understandable. Just breathe, dance it out, Tame Impala in the earbuds. Nothing has gone wrong. Ahh. Isn't that great to know?! Nothing has gone wrong! Only thoughts about how I could've this or that made it feel wrong, whereas the bright thoughts of...ok, let's line up with this new itinerary, you have everything you need to be safe, so, what do you wanna do?...made it feel good! Hey, you love hotels! How exciting to not know what city...oh! Yo! You love surprises! You just created a surprise trip in the middle of your wandering? How fun is that?! No toothbrush, but YES phone charger, bikini, coat, water, money, ID, and it's your bday!!! Found hotel, received free upgrade to fancy ocean terrace room b/c they thought my story was funny (which I somehow conveyed in gesture), received a free donut+Manhattan+potato chip dinner of my dreams delivered poolside with the moon, and could hardly sleep (what's that, anyways) because I was so excited to see what the black view out my window would become in the first light of Monday. So I giggled, seeing Mt.Vesuvius & Capri bathed in pink on the horizon. Life is fun.
