#Poonam and #Pooja ...they both give the best hugs :) My darlings here are two of the many reasons why a part of my heart will always belong to #India ...this place that can make my spirits soar and break my heart in the same breathe.
From I met #Pooja right in #2007 when she was just about #Poonam age, left. She was spirited,a bit of a tomboy ,silly, laughed a lot and was often giving head stand demonstrations...while laughing, of course. When she told me with a smile yesterday that she is now married I was able to back hold my tears then, because Ajay, a boy from their village had told me a few days before... and broke my heart. He never understood why I began to cry.
#Poonam ,right, was not born when my footsteps first took me to this place. She is one that turns my heart to mush. She is sweet, kind,a little shy and is as strong as a ox ...she can carry two serious buckets of water, and smile...she did that as she walked past a stunned me in their village last year.
#Poonam is in school and doing brilliantly, an opportunity that #Pooja never had.
I pray that some day, unlike #Pooja #Poonam will be able to choose her life's path. And hope that whatever comes their way... my darling girls will still always smile

As I write I think of a quote from one of my favorite books ever, #Thephrophet by #KalilGibran ...The selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears #OfJoyAndSorrow #MyIndiaJourney
