As women, why do we feel guilt or shame when expressing appreciation for ourself? Why do we feel the need to hold back and be humble? Why do we need others to objectify us, sexualize us, and make us feel beautiful? Why do we need others to validate our self-love?
. . .
I'm not the one to preach. I also need my husband, friends and my sister to remind me of my worth. My confidence sometimes hangs on their ability to counter my harsh self-judgment. Here and there, I need to see myself through their eyes and be reminded of my beauty.
. . .
Does that make me superficial and weak? No. Only human.
