❗️BUBBLY TIPS ❗️
📌Although Krug has been championing the art of the multi-vintage since it’s inception, Giraud is the first (and only?) producer to actually put “MV” on the label.
In this instance the latest release is based around the 2009 vintage (70%), with the remainder being drawn off from a solera system - an unusual, although not unique process (Bruno Paillard uses a similar system).
After a full year of fermentation and ageing in oak the MV09 was bottled without racking and spent six years on its lees prior to disgorgement.
It has rounded out and softened up, showing some interesting marshmallow, butterscotch, and mealy character on nose, whilst the palate remains more tightly coiled, herbaceous and chalky with excellent grip.
