It's all about ENGAGEMENT. I see it all the time on social media pages where people ask for more followers, but yet they fail to engage and show appreciation to those who do follow (support) them.
It's best to understand that every like and follower is a supporter of yours, and it's highly advisable that you show appreciation to those who support you. Truly they don't have to, however, they have chosen to do so. Therefore, why not show them you appreciate them?
I see many profiles and pages that have over 10,000 followers/likes, but their engagement rate is absolutely appalling. When you have that many followers, but you only have a handful of likes and comments, and yet you don't engage with those handful, that is a HUGE problem. There is no point to ask for more followers if you're unable to appreciate the ones who do already.
People don't follow your pages to only read or watch your announcements, they choose to support your social media as they wish to ENGAGE with you, they wish to feel appreciated and not just looked at as a statistic.
I have always said It, and I always will, "you need to show respect and appreciation online just as you would in person." Just because it is social media doesn't mean things change. You want more followers (support)? Then you need to earn it.
Oh you didn't know that what you expect is what you should also deliver? It's a mistake far too many are making. Social media DOES affect your character and legacy. Remember that. Therefore, spend time appreciating those who support you just as they spend time supporting you. Give the support you expect to garner.
Social Media needs to be treated the same as face-to-face interactions. Failure to do so means you're the sabotage to your support.
Be the solution, not the problem. Appreciate those who support you.
