As part of #worldmentalhealthday2018 I’d like to share this very personal & vulnerable song with you all. Full version here: https://youtu.be/F4wn0BBa48w
I started writing it after a conversation with a close friend I’ve known since I was 11, who through her own struggles has always been incredibly understanding, selfless and supportive when I’m feeling lost and don’t know where to turn. The best piece of advice she gave me was to just accept that this is part of who I am and it’s what makes me, me.
There’s not always a solution, it’s not just a blip, it can’t be fixed and it’s certainly not easy to live with. You’ve got to ride the waves and hold on to the highs so you can pull yourself through the lows. #whatdoesntkillyoumakesyoustronger 💪
I have realised through my reluctancy to share this song that acceptance doesn’t mean you shouldn’t talk about it. It doesn’t mean you have to hide.
So, this song is for Siobhan, it’s for the silent sufferers, the misunderstood. It’s for everyone & anyone who lives with depression, anxiety and any other mental illnesses that make you feel like you’re alone, in the hope that hearing someone sing it out loud helps you as much as it helped me to write it. We’re in this together. ❤️ ; #worldmentalhealthday #wmhd2018 #mentalhealthuk #mentalhealthawareness #musicforthemind #musicformentalhealth #itsokaynottobeokay #anxiety #depression #alwaysbekind #minduk #samaritans #songwriter #originalmusic #whoiam
