Repost from @sfmomaunion:
I’m Jessalyn Aaland, the Senior Program Associate for Teacher Engagement + Resources in the Education Department. Ask me about how K-12 teachers are integrating art into their curriculum! Since the museum opened in 2016, I’ve helped over 3,000 teachers explore the museum‘s collections and exhibitions as a resource for teaching and learning. Through my programs, teachers also experience the restorative power of the museum as a space for rejuvenation, curiosity, and imagination, which helps them to keep doing the critical work that they do.
In my role at @sfmoma, I leverage my background as a former #SFUSD high school English and ELD teacher to facilitate teacher workshops, design curricula, and help teachers develop lessons integrating artworks from our collection.
Along with my job at SFMOMA, I’m also an artist. I choose to work here because of my brilliant, talented, and kind colleagues, and because I believe in the power of art to transform our world, even though I could make more money working for the public school system. Our work is #worthmorethan1%! #fairwage #fairwagesnow #sfmoma #sfmomaunion
