Some days, being a mum of 4 is actually bloody exhausting. Today is one of them!
We had a bad night, still no idea why she was so upset and I’m still blaming teeth (it’s my go to problem when I have no clue!) The lack of sleep impacted on my motivation for the day and having a slightly grumpier and whinier Elliott than usual, due to the dreaded cold and cough that infected them all, meant I had to make a real effort not to just live on the sofa.
However, I did the school run, park visit, play date, baby sign and then came home and cooked dinner and changed the beds, 2 loads of washing and bathed them and put them all to bed.
It’s now 8pm and I’m done, I would go to bed if I didn’t need to do a job application and shower.
It’s days like today where I am thankful for my husband 🙌🏻 he was woken by the babe a few times last night, he got up and went to work all day, collected Oscar from school because we were at baby sign, went back to work and then has come home, hoovered, emptied the tumble drier, cleaned the kitchen and hung a load of washing outside.
Days like today I’m really reminded that we are a team, and whilst I would like to think I do the majority (some days that’s true) I have to acknowledge that it wouldn’t work as well without him.
It’s not a one person show bringing up these 4, it’s a constant effort that we both make because we love every fibre of them, even when we are tired, even when we want to fall asleep.
So today I say yay to us, all of us! 🏅Mums and dads that actually deserve a sticker for just sodding well showing up some days! For keeping the house in a liveable standard, for dragging the nit comb through the hair of screaming kids, for feeding them more than toast for dinner when quite frankly even that seems like an effort!
