In lieu of #ThirstyThursday, we caught up with our in-house mixologist, Himanshu Chaudhary, who recently made us proud at the World Class city semi finals, for a quick tete-a-tete on the world of spirits and cocktails.
Q: What are the latest trends in wine based cocktails?
HC: Wine Spritzers are becoming hugely popular, with aromatic wines such as Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling or Gewurztraminer that are just right for the summer! Also, there is a rising level of experimentation with rose and whites, as opposed to the traditional reds, which is a refreshing change from the mundane.
Q. What are the latest experiments being done with wine based cocktails?
HC: Fresh herbs and fruits are highly popular these days in wine based infusions or for a simple smoky finish to a wine based drink. We also use second flush tea, Matcha, monkey king jasmine and a select few others in certain wine cocktails at The Eau Bar, at The Oberoi, Mumbai. This space is evolving and one is certain to see wine only get more popular as mixology develops in the country.
