Some of us need to hear this. More grace. More forgiveness. More Health.

This sometimes means less fitness. And that’s ok as long as you’re not using it as an excuse to slack off on your goals. Listening to my body has been a learned skill. Not something I’ve been especially great at over the years. Having said that, I have not been to the gym in 3 weeks (gasp!). There was a time when this would have panicked me. I would get this crazy thought that missing the gym would mean I would undo all of my hard earned work. Not the case.

I’m coming up on 2 years in this lifestyle and 3 weeks off will not (and cannot) reverse the progress of 2 years. I continue to follow the 80/20 rule with my diet & nutrition & I have maintained my weight despite not working out. I think I may even be down a pound🤔...(?) probably due to the fact that my body requires less food when I’m not exercising regularly.

Time off —from anything— can be a good thing in many cases. In my case it has helped to give my body a much needed break (at the cellular level) providing a solid foundation during the initial phase of antiviral therapy. It has freed up some energy to put toward other things, like our trip to Orlando, as well as the pre/post kitchen remodel work. It has also helped me to mentally prepare for a new nutritional protocol that starts next week; the recipe hunting, grocery lists/shopping, clearing out both refrigerators/pantry, planning meals, and all the food prepping I will need to do in advance. This all would‘ve required energy that I otherwise would not have had to give.

Something I’ve come to realize over the past several months is that fitness doesn’t always necessarily equal health🧐 You can reach your fitness goals and destroy your health in the process🙋‍♀️ Last year fitness was my first priority and that came at a high cost, one that I am still paying for. This year I am committed to doing whatever I need to in order to restore what’s broken and come back stronger. I had to have a “come to Jesus” with myself & honestly ask what good is having a fit body if it’s sick all the time?🙄 I hope one day...soon..I can have the best of both: Health + Fitness❤️

It’s probably time I renamed this to mobility Wednesday, or something like that, but that’s not as catchy.

One of my favvvv places to chill in, Childs Pose. But, since my hip surgery way back when, this pose gives me trouble after a few minutes. Which is why I need ANY supports I can get.
Enter blankets!

Child’s Pose is a wonderfully restorative pose, but if you ache a bit after a few moments like me, grab some helpers to lay on.
You can also put a pillow or towel under your feet too.

Chill here for at least 5 minutes, sink into the pose and let it work it’s magic.
It can help stretch the muscles of the abdomen and get your digestive system moving too.
