Jake Bell was my college captain and my hero as a young player. I remember this one day in 2005 when he was coaching my throwing and the forehand finally clicked for me... he stopped throwing, looked me in the eye and said to me “Tim you are going to be good at ultimate.” For whatever reason those words changed my life. 🙏🏼 I struggled a lot to perform for him my first year on Buzz and he was like an ultimate god to me ... to finally get the validation that he believed in me was huge for my confidence. Since college he’s helped out and trained with MP but was never able to play for HBU. Until last year! We finally got to play O line together again at OCBC. This year we get to do it again! As a coach I’m proud of Jake and his progress over the years and am beyond grateful for the opportunity to train with & play with my college captain, first ultimate mentor and the guy who pushed me to play my first club season with Med Men in 2007. In the spirit of #throwback Thursday and the spirit of my stoke to play frisbee with @ajjacoski and our @humiliswag_beach_ultimate crew this weekend at our 5th annual @ocbeachulti CLASSIC, I’m throwback posting a few of my favorite previous HBU MIXED DIV TEAMs. Did you know, our only Open Div roster is our @usaultimate #beachnats roster? Bounding is an exercise we use during our in-season PEAK Phases. The drill allows us to apply both our Front Side and Backside Mechanics cues together with explosive force application. These combined should allow advanced athletes to FLOAT in thigh separation, as you can see from the Photo. Great MQ Russ!

El BALANCEO CON BOLA RUSA o KETTLEBELL SWING (KBS) es un gran ejercicio que en los últimos años ha venido tomando fuerza y aumentado su popularidad debido a su uso común en el mundo del CROSSFIT y el FITNESS.
Tiene la fama de construir un CORE fuerte y por su gran gasto calórico ayudar a formar una cintura delgada.
Pero esos beneficios no terminan ahí, al ser un ejercicio multiarticular ayuda a fortalecer la parte posterior de la pierna , el grupo muscular isquiosural (bícep femoral, semimembranoso y semitendinoso) formar unos glúteos, zona lumbar y abdominales fuertes, al mismo tiempo que trabaja sobre la actividad aeróbica y anaeróbica quemando grasa y construyendo músculo.

Hablando de rendimiento deportivo es un gran elemento dentro de una sesión de fuerza y potencia, ya que el motor principal de ejecución son los músculos extensores de cadera y piernas (glúteos y cuádriceps), y por su semejanza al gesto técnico del salto vertical Lo convierte en uno de los mejores ejercicios para potenciar el salto.

Hay que recordar que no se debe sacrificar la técnica por el afán de levantar cargas altas.

This is one reason why we take our time and do breathing series to start every workout in a calm state. It does wonders for increasing mindfulness around our MQ (movement quality) during the session. Sure it takes an extra 10 minutes but it is absolutely worth it for what we get from it. It’s also a great way to down regulate at night before bed and to use in the sauna! The breath sequences vary, I tend to like a 4:4:8:4 for most beginners but if this is new to you a simple 4:6 is a good start. STUDY: The relaxation effect of prolonged expiratory breathing
.
At #XPT we use many different breathing techniques to create various responses in the body. One major technique is the utilization of long controlled exhales to create a relaxation response. We have many methods designed to take advantage of this physiological trigger to induce a parasympathetic (rest & digest) state.
.
This study is one of many showing the relaxation effect of prolonged exhales. Here the subjects performed a 4 second inhale followed by a 6 second exhale, and the researchers studied the response of their heart rate variability (HRV), and indicator of autonomic nervous system activity.
.
The researchers found that the 4-6 inhale/exhale ratio was an effective strategy to decrease sympathetic (fight or flight) nervous system activity and therefore induce a parasympathetic or rested state.
.
Try using this ratio of 4 seconds in, 6 seconds out for 3-5 minutes the next time you are feeling stressed, anxious, angry, or just need to unwind and relax.
.
*BONUS TIP: Perform this entire breathing session through your NOSE ONLY and make sure the belly rises with the inhales and falls with the exhales for a more significant relaxation effect.

La ejecución de nuevos movimientos generan estímulos que, al ser desconocidos para nuestro sistema musculoesquelético promueven el desarrollo de fibras musculares que normalmente se encuentran en un "estado de inactividad" mejorando el rendimiento deportivo de los atletas. De la misma manera contribuyen al mejoramiento de la salud articular siempre y cuando demos prioridad a la técnica y ejecución correcta de los movimientos antes de querer enfatizar en el aumento de cargas.

El LEVANTAMIENTO TURCO o TURKISH GETUP es una excelente opción para trabajar en etapas de mejoramiento de la fuerza lenta (para deportistas interesados en la fuerza aplicada al deporte). Es ideal hacerlo parte del entrenamiento por la gran cantidad de grupos musculares utilizados en su ejecución generando un gasto calórico bastante alto.
Los beneficios principales incluyen mejoramiento de todos los músculo estabilizadores, enfocando el trabajo en el CORE o núcleo corporal, estabilidad, fuerza y flexibilidad de cintura escapular, piernas y cadera , mejora la coordinación y conciencia corporal, la propiocepción y ayuda a corregir asimetrías musculares.

En éste caso me enfoco en el aprendizaje y la mecanización de la técnica y ejecución con una carga baja, más adelante llegarán los pesos elevados.
