Such a wriggler!! Only another 5 weeks til little lady gets evicted!! I don’t want a c section but a ‘normal’ birth is impossible because of placenta completely covering my cervix. I shared this flow yesterday on the @riverflowyoga stories: This is what 20 minutes of mindful movement looks like at home, condensed down to about a minute. Although the video is sped up, the actual movements are slow, guided by the breath. For my home practice, it’s never about doing a “cool” sequence, it’s just about what feels good in that moment. There doesn’t need to be a “peak pose” to make your own yoga sequence at home. Just roll out your mat, *maybe* close your eyes, and see where the breath can lead you.✌️

👉🏻 We are all created to move. It’s innate in children to explore and discover various movements, so that they can successfully make their first turn on their tummy, their first crawl on the floor, and even their first step on the ground. As they grow older, they continue to discover how their bodies move, so that they can make their first jump, their first hop, and their first pull up.

😭 Yet the reality today is that children are becoming more and more sedentary - sitting for long hours in school, being glued to the screens at home. The habit of movement exploration is terminated prematurely. Therein lies a great tragedy - lives entering into adulthood and old age never fully experiencing the great joy of being able to move well.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😱 More often than not, these are the lives that will face a myriad of physical pain associated with poor movement and sedentary lifestyle - ranging from knee pain to shoulder pain, back pain to neck pain. As a trusted saying goes, “Motion is lotion.” When we don’t move it, we will eventually lose it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📣 As such, building a good movement foundation must start from young. More than that, a lifestyle of practicing well executed movements must be inculcated amongst youths. Someone once said, “Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanence.” Practicing poorly executed movements 10000 times doesn’t perfect the movement, it only serves to encourage increased stress to the body part involved.

🕺🏻 So if you want to find yourself moving well at a ripe old age, still being able to engage in the many things you love to do, you’ve got to start moving, right now.
