We made it to Texas!!! A cross country tip alone with 12 little spirit lives in tow (1 pig, 3 ducks, 2 peacocks, 1 dog, 2 cats, 1 parakeet and 2 finches) My transmission when out half way (in CO) and I thought I was doomed. Fortunately I made it without completely breaking down! Just couldn’t get much above 50 mph! Ugh! But thank you, God, for protection!!! It took me a lot longer and it was exhausting on me and all of my sweet animals, but we all made it safely early Tuesday morning and have been enjoying our new home ever since!! Many people have been asking me how I got them all here. So here’s the breakdown. @meaneyedwillis left early to close on the property and prep the house for the arrival of the farm. He took the 2 big dogs, Gus and Merryweather, with him. In the Jeep I had Cowboy (our chihuahua) in his doggy car seat, Surf (the parakeet) in the back seat, and Basil and Rosemary (the herbs aka kitties) in the way back. I filled the old beat up camper with hay and I had Huey, Dewey and Lewey (3 ducks) in a XL dog crate, Romeo and Juliette (peacocks) in an XXL dog crate, Pancho and Lefty (finches) their flight cage, and the Peppermint our big sweet pig, free to roam the camper and sleep! At each stop I offered fresh water and they got their regular morning and evening meals, on their normal schedule. The first night I drove until I couldn’t drive anymore, then I stopped at a little motel that allowed pets. I was able to pull my camper right up to the door of the motel room! Cowboy, kitties and parakeet came in to sleep w/ me in the hotel room, while Pepps, ducks, peafowl & finches, slept in the camper. Yes, for those of you who have asked, the kitties did have a littler box in the car and the hotel room! And I cleaned the camper bedding a.m. and p.m. for Pepps and all the other animals in there! Cowboy just got out when needed at gas station breaks!
It was long and exhausting but this entire farm has officially been relocated to Texas!! The horses are still at moms ranch. We have some fences to build then this little rescue farm will be together and complete again!
