I shared #mytransformationstory on my facebook page; but also wanted to share it with my IG family. In 2015, after having 2 children, I was overweight and uncomfortable in my own body. I had been asked on numerous occasions if I was expecting 😩 when I wasn't.
I started running because that was “girl time.” I would meet with one of my friends and we would walk/run … but primarily chat — exercise was more social than anything else. I ran my first 5k in 2014, then a year later (and a another child later) a friend invited me to join her marathon relay team … I agreed and by the end of my “training” - I had lost almost 20 lbs! At this point, I was hooked on running and the results.
As I became more serious about running, I also learned that I needed to focus on nutrition and cross-training to maximize my results. I refused for my children to be my excuse, rather they were part of my REASON for wanting a healthier lifestyle - I ended up finding #beachbodyondemand and #shakeology- which allowed me to have access to a variety of workouts I could do at home - so I no longer had any excuses.
Over the past 2 years, I’ve lost 50lbs … I’ve gone from a size 14 to a size 4 — but it came with a lot of hard work, dedication and intentional planning. I'm still a #workinprogress. I made gradual, small changes that eventually had a #compoundeffect. I didn’t diet, rather I use portion control, eat lots of vegetables, whole foods and exercise regularly.
I’m far from perfect, but I have made progress and learned a few things along the way. I’m sharing this to hopefully motivate, encourage or inspire someone else. It is not about the scale victories - but through my fitness journey I have become more confident, disciplined and focused in all areas of my life.
I’m committed to this life. So follow along, reach out and know that you can do this too - and strive to be the best YOU!
