Well, had to start enlivening all the kawa and tikanga around patupaiarehe here in Christchurch.
They started helping me two years ago when I first started interacting with them 'properly' when I first visited Waikaremoana and thanks to the help and support of whaea Rose, whaea Rita, matua Hemi and bro John who drive me around at the time
I thought they were just to help me to do my North Island activations so thought best to leave them there but looks like some came along for the adventure haha, now wondering if they'll come overseas with me too.
But anyway, they've been seen around me down here and was heartened to hear that they haven't been seen here in a very long time?! Ka aroha!
So, not only are their te reo me nga tikanga initiatives to revitalise here but also our beliefs in traditional Maori spirituality or wairua.
Rongoā wananga, walks and talks to be done in the next few weeks but gradually introducing kawa and tikanga including those around ngahere Atua and Kaitiaki too cause the natural world is their domain; earth, fire, air, water 😓 #sweatin #movequick #lotstodo
