Sometimes you have to just muddle along until you learn things about yourself. I have learned in the past three months that my body just isn’t built for endurance... it’s built for short distance and power. I’m a work horse 🤣. My body rebels when I push too hard. Injuries and illness are the only things that cause me to relent, not a healthy mindset either. I keep learning that I feel my healthiest when I do what my body likes. So today was a 5k on the treadmill. Time was a little better today. Still as sweaty as ever! Today’s workout sponsored by Pop King, David Bowie... Let’s Dance!! .

As an athlete, I always prefered dynamic warm-ups over static ones. Get your heart rate up, joints lubricated and blood flowing to your muscles faster with those push-ups with arm raise next time you train shoulder, chest or triceps. #WATRAINING

Dragged myself out of bed an hour early to practice. It always seems like a better idea to stay in bed in the moment, but every time I carve out the time to practice in the morning, my body and my mind always thank me. I feel grounded, I'm more present, and I'm less reactive to things. I am able to simply look at the moment presented in front me, rather than the whole day or week or month, etc., Also, giving my wrist some TLC before typing in a computer all day is tremendously helpful. And the ONLY way a morning practice is possible is if I am able to drink excessive amounts of coffee during my flow. ☕️✅

What is Degenerative Disc Disease?

- Disc Degeneration is normal wear/tear that is common in healthy individuals!
- There is very little correlation between disc degeneration on imaging and back pain
- Tissue damage does not mean pain/dysfunction
- >60% of people 40 years old have disc degeneration
- 50% of people 40 years old have disc bulge
- THEREFORE YOU WOULD ACTUALLY BE ABNORMAL IF YOUR IMAGE WAS "NORMAL"!
- Surgery is rarely indicated unless you have presence of bowel/bladder dysfunction, severe neurological weakness, or unchanging chronic radicular pain.
