I found these mail sorting cabinets at a garage sale this weekend. Solid construction with dovetail joinery. The lady selling them had then for years but never found a good use for them. There became the new home for some of my planes withing a few hours. Thanks Canada Post! #woodworking#mouldingplane#reusereducerecycle
Hand Tool Thursday. I used to be more of a collector and today I thought I'd share my Stanley 45 & 55. The question has been "Where did all the blade boxes go?" My 55 came with this clever adaptation where the craftsman combined the four boxes and made a lid for the accessories. The lid cannot be opened unless removed from the top. There is a small dowel that locks it from sliding when closed. I've had these two beauties for close to 20 years and from time to time get to grin and put them to use. #greatplanesmillwork#handtoolthursday#stanley55#stanley45#handplane#mouldingplane#oldschool#moulding
A little morning read my while downing my coffee ☕️. This is a great book 📖 published in 1999. Lots of detailed photos and Garrett Hack did quit the job researching.
After having fun with my new (to me) triple reed moulding plane yesterday I thought I’d show you another great plane in action. This one’s a multiple or “follow on” reed/bead plane by John Moseley from the 1830’s. It has a removable slip that acts as a fence to form a standard side bead, the slip is then removed and the plane is guided by the exposed sole to form a second bead. From there you can “follow on” with as many as you like. It’s very addictive if you’re a beadfreak like me! #mouldingplane#moldingplane#unpluggedwoodworking#woodworking#antiquetools#beadfreak#moseleyandsons
