Happy Mothers Day to EVERYONE!
After losing my mom, I didn't enjoy this day AT ALL!!!!! It was heart breaking in every way.
Now....my boys have brought me so so much joy, not for anything they achieve or don't, but because of their very existence! I couldn't love these boys more. They are the bomb.com and NO one better say anything contrary or I'll go 🐻 all over ya #kiddingnotkidding
Feeling blessed Mothers Day is not quite as painful as it once was, but fully aware of those that are sorrowful today. Those who have lost a momma, those who have never had a kind momma, those who didn't know their mom, those who have lost children, etc. I'm thinking about you all today and saying a prayer 🙏

For some reason, I bought a rabbit after work. #impulsebuy #mothersdaygrief #iamanadult

Mother's Day is a day of silent grief for many women. I used to carry this grief silently too--first when we couldn't get pregnant and later when we lost a son. Then I started talking about how hard Mother's Day was for me, and women slowly opened up, explaining they felt the same too. I realized that there were many women struggling on Mother's Day with their own unspoken broken--the pain of losing a mom, losing a child, or struggling with infertility. I've written several blog posts about the silent grief of Mother's Day, but this year I was asked to talk about it on a podcast called Parenting Tomorrow's Leaders. For all the women who carry a bit of grief on Mother's Day (and those who want to help), maybe we could find a way through it together? {Link to podcast in bio} @parentingtomorrowsleaders #childloss #miscarriage #infantloss #infertility #mothersdaygrief #mothersday

Not everyone finds Mothers Day easy. Whether you didn’t have a good relationship with your mother, didn’t have a mother, couldn’t be a mother, have the challenges of being a step-mother, or are grieving the loss of your mother or your child, it can be a complicated day.
Even the women who seem to “have it all” can find Mother’s Day difficult. Parenting is challenging and I so often hear my clients saying they don’t feel like they’re “good enough” mothers. They talk about all the times they lost their cool, or got too tired or busy to to a “good enough” job of feeding their kids healthy food, or any of the other zillion things they feel they should be able to juggle perfectly.
If Mothers Day is tricky for you in any way, this is a post I wrote this time last year that I hope will let you know you're not alone, and offer some ideas on how to cope through this weekend: https://alisoneastland.com/if-mothers-day-is-hard #mothersdayishard #youarenotalone #mothersdaygrief #acceptance

These eyes have cried millions of sorrow filled tears, have seen more heartache than I'd wish on my worst enemy. Have experienced bone chilling loneliness, and have watched more than my fair of people walk away. But more importantly, these eyes have cried millions of tears filled with joy and unconditional love, they have seen love, and happiness, and LIFE! They have witnessed new friends and family come into my life to stay! They've seen both the rainstorm and the rainbow!!! . . . #rainstorm #rainbow #life #love #sadness #loneliness #grief #tears #family #friends #heartache #joy #unconditionallove #eyes #browneyedbeauty #mommy #mothersdaygrief #bittersweet #sad #loved

Mothers grieving a child on Mother's Day, we need your help for this week's post. If you could tell people one thing about the grief you feel this Mother's Day, what would it be? All input is welcome - whether it's about your pain or your strength, your anger or your gratitude - please share below! #mothersdaygrief #angelmom #angelmommy #grievingmom #compassionatefriends #thecompassionatefriends #givegriefwords

The past month, every Mother's Day post I've scrolled across on Facebook, every commercial I hear on TV or the radio, every ad in my email talking about that something special to give Mom this Sunday my heart has ached a little more each day. I do my best not to show it. I try not to be one of those begging for attention and making others feel sorry for me. I know it's not your fault that you get to see your Mom and I don't... But I do admit I'm jealous. I know I shouldn't be. I know there's a reason. I just haven't figured it out yet. Probably never will. All I ask from you is to hug your Mom, tell her what she means to you. Treat each moment with her as if it's your last. 💕 #MothersDayGrief #lifeafterloss #MothersDay2015 #ithinkillwriteabookoneday #emotional

These kids (plus one in heaven) made me a mom. Someday I will have a family picture with all three. For now, we wait with hope and joy, for the now and not yet. #adoption #mothersday #mothersdaygrief #love

I have every right to feel sad about not having my mom here on Mother's Day and my heart does ache for her. I get to choose, though, to either let that grief and loneliness bury me or propel me. God did not rescue me from this loss, lead me and teach me and bring me this far for me to quit or even just settle. I am sad and uncomfortable *and I choose to move forward with the courage and strength I learned from my brave and amazing mom. She was a lover, a giver, a warrior. Cancer may have taken my mom but I am alive with beauty and grace as I never have been before. Cancer did not win! I love you, Mama, and will honor you by living in the strength and beauty you taught me to💜#mothersday #mothersdaygrief #cancerdidntwin #grief #godisgood #godismakingmenew #bravegirls #bestronginthelord #bestrong

IMPROMPTU GRATITUDE CHALLENGE: Mother's Day weekend can be a bummer (to put it almost offensively lightly). A small thought for those who have been struggling in the lead up to Mothers Day, in particular those mothers (and fathers) who have experienced loss. Loss of a baby is one of the most traumatic, life-altering experiences for a parent. As special as tomorrow is for many of us, please keep in mind the pain that some people will be feeling and spare a thought for the beautiful babies that are no longer with us but live on in their parents' hearts 💕
