If you’re not resting, you’re not training to your full potential. Full stop. I keep seeing the message ‘no rest days’ or ‘active rest’ or even ‘grind every day’ and I’m over here like 🙅🏼♀️Running long distance *well* is a balance between load, overload, and REST. And rest for me means- ya know actual rest, not spinning or swimming or any of that. I took myself out of the game for months and dealt with many further months of constant pain from overworking my body and never properly resting. Now, I take two running rest days a week (AT LEAST) and one of those days is full rest. I’ve managed 60 mile weeks on 5 days running and I generally limit myself to doubles twice a week- I really like running and I know I won’t be able to if I overwork these legs. Today I ran 6 miles to close out my first taper week (20% reduction, which brought me to 50 miles) and my legs feel amazing. Pain free and fresh AF. Everyone should do what suits them best 💯, but I want to go against the IG grain and say get ya rest on. .
