Self care tip #1. When in Ireland, (along side dawn music sessions, local oak-aged whiskey, and singing every single ballad we know 10 times over 🎻) definitely bathe in hot seaweed...
An ancient Celtic tradition to fortify the bones and blood and keep the sailors strong, it is said that " a soak in the briny tub reduces muscle and joint aches, helps circulatory problems, and relieves dry skin conditions. It’s also supposed to purge the body of toxins and strengthen your metabolism". We are touring so hard right now that an afternoon to soak on the coast of Northern Ireland was masterfully appreciated. I felt like a proper selkie. 🙏🏽
On a side note, we found out that our Irish blood is enormous on both sides of our family. To be traversing these chilly and beautifully green lands have filled me with stories and songs from generations and generations of a people steeped so deeply in music that it oozes out of every pore. The layers of sorrow and song are present in every cornerstone of these lands.
Ok, but all seriousness aside, this slimy, green, naked, mermaid seaweed bath was just totally right!!! #motherlands #selkie #Irishlore #mermaid #leahsong
