Today's pose is pigeon prep pose because pigeon prep is a foundation for so many poses that are more advanced. .
PLEASE Look at this picture CLOSELY! This is the pose where I am sure I am going too see 50% of you in the gallery with off form as I am sure you are not aware what too because there are so many big accounts with amazing yogis doing this pose off and this is such an important pose that any misalignment especially done by a teacher is unacceptable. .
Also compensations in this pose that happen due to lack of strength or flexibility are actually really small (shifting the torso front, not being able to lift the torso up) but misalignments here are a result only of not knowing what to do in the pose. .
So to make sure you know what to do read on:
➡️ When you come into pigeon pose foot of the bent leg comes close to opposite hip and you should not move it up (making the shin parallel to the front of the mat) until you can sink your hips low enough.
➡️ Your hips should be parallel with the floor and as square as possible. If the hip of your extended leg goes a bit back (like mine is) it is due to lack of flexibility in hip flexors and you will be able to square it in time.
➡️ Your extended leg is in line with the hip meaning that when you look back leg is not going to the left or right but straight back.
➡️ Knee of the extended leg is looking down not opening to any side. If it starts opening check your hips, they are not aligned.
➡️ If you can not lift your torso it is ok, stay down until your body opens enough for you to be able to lift.

I had been so diligent in sticking to my 6 day a week training schedule for the past 4 months. Today I trained for the first time in 2 weeks. During that time I didn’t do any exercise whatsoever. I have been writing this really distressing report which ended up being 44 pages long and taking over a month to write. It was a deeply personal endeavour and one that I needed to undertake to make sure I was listened to and that I got what I was rightly entitled to. I tried to maintain my healthy and self-soothing habits as best I could throughout this distressing time but I’m human and I got consumed in the last couple of weeks. Thankfully that’s all over and I should never have to do something to that scale and deadline ever again so I can enjoy my freedom once more and get back into my good routines. My body has missed training sooo much. Doing a handstand against the wall is not a difficult move to do.

It doesn’t require much strength, as when you do it right, you’re using your structure more than muscle.

It takes some coordination and balance, though.

When was the last time you’ve watched a sunrise ? 🌚🌸 it’s crazy to think none will ever be the same & that we can watch this (free) show as many times we decide to!! Waking up early/earlier is hard when you’re not used to (even for me I get into that routine during winter...), but i can’t remember a single time I was disappointed from doing so !!! 😻I love sunsets a lot, but sunrises are mystical.. waking up with mama earth, the plants, the birds, realizing the world is a huge playground we need to protect 🌍✨

I have an increasing sense of vertigo at height as I get older 🙃. My sense of space gets thrown off & overwhelmed in high places & I start to feel very dizzy but what helps me most with this is.... you guessed it breath! 🌬 Practicing in different places you really notice the effect a different environment can have on your balance, proprioception & energy- like practicing outside can make out feel a bit wobbly but can me more invigorating, practicing in candlelight can be harder to balance also & practicing in nature feels more healing & liberating, practicing in the workplace or at home in a room where you normally work can be more distracting! The place we practice can have a big impact on what arises during the practice but this in itself is part of the practice , to notice! ☝️ #yogaeverywhere #yogaexperience #yogalondon
