We are so happy to let you guys know that Oliver is doing so much better! ❤️🙌🏼
We have been transferred from the PICU to the oncology floor to recover from surgery. Yesterday Oliver was still coming off of all his heavy sedatives and still wasn’t himself which was hard for us to watch and really made us worry. Then he woke up this morning talking, smiling, and playing! This boy is our hero and has made huge strides this week.
He was finally cleared for a regular diet (hadn’t eaten in 5.5 days) so for breakfast he had Cinnamon Toast Crunch, an apple, and yogurt!! We have started weening all of the pain medication and are hoping to be off of everything later this evening! Besides gas pains and constipation, he seems to be pain free. His incision is also healing great.
We are still needing him to start peeing and pooping on his own, but we are hopeful we will get to go home in the next day or two if everything continues to improve. As you can see we had Oliver’s central line removed during surgery. It had been in for almost 8 months and had started migrating, so we decided to have it removed until we know the next steps in his treatment.
We will be having scans done next month to tell us exactly how much of the tumor remains and what treatment will be needed to help us get rid of the rest of the cancer! We are also waiting on pathology results from the large portion of the tumor that was removed.
Thank you for all of your continued prayers and support for Oliver. Your kind words have meant so much to our family. ❤️🎗
