In the Little House Books, one often finds accounts of their fall and spring cleaning. I loved reading of this when I was a child. And I vividly remember the first cool days and the yellow leaves that fell, foretelling the avalanche that would come and having an itch to clean my room. It would be an all day affair and summer clothes would be sorted out and winter clothes moved in. Always, with my room fresh, dusted, and clean, and toys found which had been lost under my bed for months, I would feel rich as a king. In the cleanliness of my room and the full inventory of my belongings I felt content. Fall is a beautiful time to make a habit of this, and it is a good time to clean up our thoughts as well. What wisdom, creative ideas, skills, or memories have we lost in cupboards and under beds in our mind? Dust off the inspiration and begin to dream with your child.
