Do you ever feel guilty for feeling good or happy when bad things are happening around you?
I know I do.
I’m not sure what that says about me, but I think it is important to acknowledge both good and bad things.
Yes, I had a good day and I have a lot of love in my life.
Yes, the world is sad and broken and needs to see real change.
Yes, people I care about are going through real loss and struggle.
All of these things can and do coexist.
And that’s okay.
Even when things are bad, you can find happiness. Even when you are happy, sad things might occur. The world is too big not to contain all of our feelings at once. It is okay to feel all of the things. You are allowed to take up space and to hurt and to celebrate. Please, do. It’s why you are here.
