Practical Steps To Overcoming Anger
In today’s post, I will share with you the practical steps I took to free myself from the hold of anger. The first step to freedom is knowing that one is in bondage. After realizing that I had issues with my temperament, I started seeking for ways to deal with it.
Of course, I never wanted to grow and become an angry man. Some scriptures such as (Eccl. 7:9) “…anger rests in the bosom of fools” and James 1:19b “…slow to take offense, and to get angry” (Amplified Bible) were very helpful.
A moment of anger can destroy all what one has built for many years. At some point I had to ask myself a simple question; do you want to grow to become an angry man? Below are some of the practical steps I took to free myself from the hold of anger:
#Pray and ask for God’s help:
God helped me. He can pull you out of that pit of anger and temperament deficiency. God is always willing to help if only we turn to Him, that is why He said “come unto ME all yea that labor and are heavy laden, I will give you rest” He sure had you in mind when He made that statement.
#Music is Therapeutic, use it well:
Somewhere along the line, I started developed interest in music. So apart from prayer, I embraced music. Not necessarily gospel, but songs with healthy and good lyrics. Songs that would inspire me and help tune my mood each time I got moody and angry. The music helped a great deal.
#Embrace Personal Development:
I also exposed myself to materials such as books and CDs. Develop more capacity to forgive and accommodate people’s excesses. Whether we like it or not, we are responsible for our actions and reactions. Never allow your temperament be the cause of your down fall. Don’t handover the steering of your emotions to anybody, else they will crash you emotionally and even ruin your life.
#Monitor the level of Progress:
In addition, I consciously placed a “surveillance camera” on my temper and each time I noticed I was losing it, I would quickly adjust...open link (also on bio)~http://wp.me/p8rqIg-de
