When researching I found that creative writing or blogging is beneficial in so many ways:
DEALING WITH HARD TIMES - In A study that followed recently fired engineers, the researchers found that those engineers who consistently engaged with expressive writing were able to find another job faster. FINDING GRATITUDE - Another study has shown people who reflected on the good things in their life once a week by writing them down were more positive and motivated about their current situations and their futures. IMPROVES MOOD - Much of the research on writing and happiness deals with “expressive writing,” or jotting down what you think and how you feel. Even blogging undoubtedly affords similar benefits to private expressive writing in terms of therapeutic value. Expressive writing has also been linked to improved mood, well-being, and reduced stress levels for those who do it regularly.
SO TODAY - take out your pen or pencil and a notebook. Go to a nice spot in a cafe or perhaps outside and jot a word down, perhaps something you see. Then write words that describe that word/object, or how you feel about it. i.e. I wrote down 'plane' and then descriptive words I put down were - holiday, happy, love, airport, business class etc. You might also find you come up with poetry. I love this activity as it makes me feel good, it's also great to do with kids, and I like to do it outdoors, where I feel closer to nature! Your head is out of your phone, you switch off and you are able to look around and really LOOK! You notice more beauty in life. life seems less stressful and you feel at peace. .
