As I was trying to fall asleep last night (actually early this morning), I was definitely calling this one a #pinterestfail. .
I'm sure if you've cruised Pinterest, you've seen the balloons taped on the outside of the door for a birthday idea. Here's how it went down at our place.
First, my daughter's door is always open overnight. And she generally stays in her room, so I decided to just put them on the floor in her room.
Second, it takes a LOT of balloons. Like a lot. Hubs and I were blowing them up, and we ran outta hot air quick. I was gonna toss my cookies! Hubs did more with a pump and we were so over it. It seemed like lots. It seemed like a lot less in her room!! Third. Balloons squeak people. We carried them upstairs in a fitted sheet, which worked great, except for the squeaking!! I honestly don't know how you'd quietly tape them on a door??? Which is another thing - dollar store balloons are dollar store quality. Which seemed fine when I was buying them but...random balloon popping kinda ruins your stealth mode.
And last but not least, just when you count on your kid, who never wakes up in the night and sleeps through anything, to stay sleeping...of course, she doesn't. The moment I walk into her room, she wakes right up - "I need some water mommy!" And then "why those balloons in our house mommy?" Busted.
So, like I said - #pinterestfail. Except she went back to sleep, and in the morning was still pretty excited about all the balloons in her room. So I'm going to chalk that up in the #momwin column after all.
