When to say something| As I scroll through social media I see the post about our #missinggirls in the #dmv area. And it angers me!
I keep asking myself "but what can I do?". This morning while scrolling I see the post again and I start to do a bit of research. I've found mix feedback like "this is inaccurate" or "the media is ignoring our #browngirls being taken". Which left me more angered and confused!
Here's what I did see @dcpolicedept is posting amber alerts via @twitter and working with a page called @dcmissinggirls. They seem to be updating these post as our girls are found. However, that does not feel like enough for me!
As a mom of girls and a strong advocate for fighting #humantrafficking I'm both baffeled, angered and sadden. Last night I saw a preview for Casey Anthony biopic! I said to myself why?! All this #coldcases and new missing children! Smh
Can I be transparent for a moment?! There are a few factors to take into account when it comes to our missing kid's, one there young #brown and #blackkids . Two there being snatching from what people will call "urban" area's with comment like "where were there parents" and "why were they out so late alone"! None of these things justify our kids being snatched! At the end of the day a #missingchild regardless of race and neighborhood location should be over looked!
I still don't know whar I can do , but I do know that what I can't do is continue to sit here , scroll and say nothing. Repost this awareness, tag our authorities and if you see something ,say something!
All of these #influencers with mega platforms use them for good and not just another brand collaboration.
And I know some people are going to unfollow me, I don't care! Something needed to be said and my rolling number of followers is not as important to me as what's happening in this world!
