Christmas is such a heart warming wonderful time of year (cue music "it's the most wonderful time of the yeeeear" 🎶). This year, Christmas is extra special for me and this little princess. It's not only her first Christmas but it's her last first holiday. ❤️ Tomorrow she will be 11months old and next month, after the new year, this girl will have lived all 365 days of a year. It's hard to believe but amazing to experience with her. •

You will never *find* the time. Carving time out of your day for a workout needs to be intentional. You need to make time if you want to get it done. Write it down in a schedule and stick to it!

As a WAHM it might seem that I would have ample time to run whenever I please (I wake up early to do resistance or HIIT workouts daily). And while I can be flexible to some extent, I also need to be conscious of deadlines and the schedules of the organizations I work with. My fitness is important to me, but so is my job. And I only have a certain timeframe each day that the kids are in school.

That’s why on Thursdays I schedule a run while my youngest spends an hour in gymnastics. I can knock out 5 miles between drop off and pick up. Sometimes you need to look and see if you’re making the best use of your pockets of down time.

This Thanksgiving weekend I asked my husband if it was okay to go do my workout 💪🏻 then I realized it is okay!! 😊 it makes me happy, it fills my bucket, it grounds me, it energizes me, it makes me a better person.

Yesterday I was talking to my client about the effects of social media on mindset. We talked about how when you log into Instagram or Facebook you’re bombarded with these pictures and posts of fake-perfect. “Perfect” moms, bodies, food, homes...lives! It’s enough to make you feel terrible about yourself and can really mess with your mindset. Suddenly you’re questioning yourself about everything!

I want to remind you that you have the power to unfollow or hide people on social media who make you feel bad. Most of the time that isn’t their intention, but we all interpret and react to things differently. Don’t give the social media “reality” power over your mentality. YOU ARE ENOUGH! 💕

✨ 10 freaking miles ✨

That’s right. Today I ran almost 1/3 of what my total mileage was for both August and September. It was my longest run since last December. But most importantly - it was my longest run since my knee injury in June. 🎉

For some reason I didn’t think 10 miles would be “enough” to make me a runner again. I had this thought in my head that if I wanted to call myself a runner again I had to work back up to 13.1 (which I did last November). What kind of BS story was I telling myself?!

After finishing today and realizing that my knee felt amazing...that *I* felt amazing...I knew I was being crazy. I AM A RUNNER. I don’t need to push myself and risk taking myself out of the game again for a number.

So today I celebrate. It’s going to take a while to come off this high. Our bodies are capable of amazing things, even if our minds take some convincing. Also, I owe nothing but thanks to my friend @tiredmotherrunner for not only encouraging me to see a doctor for my knee, but cheering me on every step of the way as I worked my way through recovery.

Not sure if you can read our shirts: "no excuses" & "no days off". It's hard to have excuses and take time off when you are not alone in the game. Not just in fitness, but any goal you're trying to achieve. Think about it.... we don't just not mom one day (sure the going gets hard and we need to get out, but that's a break, a much needed filling of our cups) but hopefully we're not alone there either. ✨ Balance ✨

(warning - long story about discontinuing my business follows...)

We all seek balance, right? It seems so elusive. At this stage in my life as a solo mom of 3 young girls, balance is hard to find. I also know that this time in their life is fleeting.

Over the last few months, I've been frustrated with my lack of work/life balance. It was taking a toll on me mentally, emotionally, and physically. I was eating, sleeping, breathing my business 24/7. While it was paying off, it was doing so slowly (which is to be expected). Everything else in my life was being neglected and that wasn’t okay.

I was almost at my breaking point when I got an email that changed everything. I was presented with an opportunity to work at home part-time writing grants for a nonprofit (my career in my "former life"). A steady income and the opportunity to gain some balance in my life! Not long after that, I was presented with ANOTHER opportunity to write part-time for another nonprofit.

I fully believe that when we open ourselves up to opportunities they will present themselves to us. It's up to us to take them.

All of this is to say that I made the difficult decision to put my Tough Mom Fitness business on hold indefinitely. I will no longer be offering any coaching services (except my currently clients until they’ve finished). The decision took a lot of soul-searching but given the lightness and improved mentality I've felt over the last 3 weeks I know I made the right choice.

Some may call me a quitter, say I gave up, that I didn’t have what it took to succeed, or that I took the easy way out. Trust me, I struggled with those thoughts for a few weeks. But I believe that what’s meant to be will be. I made the best choice for myself and my family and the opinion of others doesn’t matter.

I hope you’ll still follow along here! I will still share motivation, inspiration, guidance, and my own personal journey. My passion for health, fitness, and nutrition will simply become a hobby 💕

For me, one thing, that helps me through life are my workouts. 💪🏻💦 I don't work out to look good, I do it to go through life in health - physical, mental and emotional health.
