One of the main reasons we decided to travel Asia was to explore and experience the Buddhism. But we never imagined this kind of adventure will come to us....
It was in a beautiful village in Myanmar, called kalaw. We arrived there after a beautiful book we read which the story was based on this area.
We got to some monastery, on a top of a hill. We needed to climb (too) many stairs. Suddenly some old and interesting monk with leaves near his eyes came and started to talk with us. After a while we decided to donate some money for the young monks, and we gave it to him. He looked at it, he looked at us, and asked us to follow him.
We followed him through a forest. We walked 10 minutes, 20, 30, I have to admit that i got a little bit stressed. We walked until we arrived to a place with four antique cottages made of wood. One of them was the monk's house. He asked us to get inside, and of course we needed to take our shoes off, like in any other sacred place in Myanmar. Inside the cottage he had a little temple and a little Buddha. And it all had a magical environment. It was so authentic, so humble. He offered us some tea and cookies. And on the same breath he took some old books from a tiny library and asked us to read it. He knew every word by heart.
He taught us about the Buddhism. About the method, the rules, the beliefs, the karma, the religion, which they are not considering it as one. He taught us to meditate...
Every second of this experience went deep into my soul and heart. It was beyond all.
The look in his eyes. The pure goodness he reflects would be something I'll take with me for the rest of my life.🙏🏼
