Was so lucky to see Walter Becker with Steely Dan twice. Discovered them back in mid '80s when I would listen to Can't Buy a Thrill when I would clean a restaurant overnight Mon Village in Hudson, Que. And when listing to it years later would remember what part of the restaurant I was cleaning but what song was playing. This photo I took when shooting for House of Blues at Molson Amphitheatre back in July 2011 and was taken from the sound booth during the open song of their set, Aja. Probably the best sound i have heard at the Amphitheatre, and was lucky enough to hang out for the rest of the show. Funny the first time I saw them, also at the Amphitheatre, the sound was not good, muddy, and the voices buried under back up singers. Could hardly recognize one of my favourite tracks, Midnight Cruiser. And when walking by the sound booth a man with knowledge of concert sound and levels was reaming out the main sound board guy. His head was lowered knowing the man was right. My pal @andreastrauttmansdorff who was also at that show told me sound waves can be responsible, being in wrong row can have an affect. Just think, from Can't Buy a Thrill to Aja, was only 5 years. Oh and don't forgets Walter's kick ass 11 Tracks of Whack in 1994. Mr Becker will be sorely missed.
