The back is now finished for my abstract shapes quilt. I like to create interesting backs for quilts which will be used so you can flip them occasionally. This started when I made a surprise quilt present for my newish boyfriend (now my partner) - what a rash idea that was!
Cautionary tale: I was keeping this all very quiet from him & three quarters of the way through I had a random conversation with him about his likes. I was making a striped quilt - and this was the point he told me he disliked symmetry and liked abstract, more like the painter Mondrian! I therefore made a Mondrian back in case he hated the front.
I also learnt from this experience to choose quilting carefully for a double sided quilt. When there are all straight lines on the front AND and the back, and you quilt in the ditch the quilting on the back is almost certain not to run parallel with your straight lines!!!!! Quilting this one is going to take forever as so much negative space cries out for lots of attention to detail. So check back in the summer to see the finished version!!?? #slowquilting #pappersaxstenworkshop #doublesidedquilts #mqg #emqg #quilts #quilting #patchwork #curatedquilts #mollymakers #modernquilter #sewmystash2018 #quiltersofinstagram
