Belmont House, Lyme Regis, Dorset. Originally built in 1774 by Simon Butler, the house was eventually gifted to lady entrepreneur Eleanor Coade by her uncle in 1784. A rare and extremely successful businesswoman of her day, Coade produced ornamental cast stone elements which decorated the finest buildings of Georgian England. Belmont's facade features many of its builder's wares. The house later became the home of author John Fowles and has recently undergone a complete restoration.
