Today my husband received his brown belt after 9 years of training. He exemplifies what jiu jitsu is, and should be. Not a single person that knows him can say he does not deserve this, on the contrary, they would say it's long overdue. He is kind, he is patient, he is humble, he has never said a bad word about anyone, he has never complained about anything, he is a great instructor, and he is the example everyone should strive to be. Aidan has taught me everything I know about this martial art, and has been the base to my development. When I find myself filled with envy, ego, or frustration - he is the one that shows me what really matters. He may be the hardest on me, but I will never be able to repay him for the things he has taught me. And here he is today; roughly 1.5 years as a white belt, technically 4 training years as a blue belt, 3 years as a purple belt, and today a brown belt.
Through all of this, he never gave up. And for that, I admire this man. Because of his experiences he has been able to help shape others, and myself, to be the best jiu jitsu practitioners we can be.
You truly deserve this, Aidan. I hope you always know; you are respected, and how very loyal and appreciated you are.
