Collins miter clamps are still my favourite way of applying pressure to miter joints.
We all know how amazing CA glue can be, but for a joint like this I prefer PVA. Im using Titebond quick and thick, which was previously known as no run, no drip.
Collins clamps give you time to align your joint, and there is no risk of shifting or blowout from nailing. The pinch marks are easily filled as they are smaller than an 18g nail.
On a sidenote, the Porter cable 20v cordless 18g nailer is performing beautifully. Im on my 3rd charge and well over 1600 brads shot. Its lightweight, powerful, and quiet. Nail holes are clean and crisp, with no double driver marks.
The only thing somewhat negative I can say is that there is a slight delay between shots, because you cannot pre-spool this nailer. It is a sequential fire only. Unless you are doing production trim, this is not a big deal.
Ill keep you posted as time goes on.
