A juvenile fishy I found taking shelter, darting around this piece of plastic floating in the water. The #plasticpollution in Lembeh was something else... but no one really seemed to care saying that "the plastic has always been here" "it provides a home for the animals"... Well the plastic hasn't always been there. Maybe some animals do use it for shelter. Does it mean its a good thing?
I know we're making so many good steps with lots of awareness being raised... but places in Asia the use of single use plastic is still incredibly high... and there's a lot more people for who the thought of plastic pollution doesnt even cross thier mind. For others its already a norm.
I am proud to be an ambassdor for @mcs_uk who are doing so much amazing work to protect the bristish marine life, and who also proved that the 5p ban works! Reducing the amount of plastic bags washed up on beaches by 40%! I'm also hugely proud to wear brands like @oceanpositive_fourthelement who make thier swim wear from recycled ghost fishing nets (nets that are lost at sea and carry on fishing. An estimated 1,250 kilometers of netting is lost or discarded in the sea, EVERY YEAR). Not only this but now Fourth Element package their swimwear in bags which are completely edible made by @avanieco ... I have drank the bag! Hahah 😂
Hope is on the horizon... So let's not stop.
