NECRON VICTORY! After deployment we drew up some of the new open play cards and the mission was 'supply cache'. Our forces were split into the sections, each coming on after a movement phase making each of our set ups very tactical. Part of the 'supply cache' card special rules is to each set up 6 objectives, once you control any of these objectives, at the start of your turn you roll a D6. On a 6 that objective becomes the supply cache and all others are removed from the battle field.
As the Necrons finished setting up first they already held an objective and you couldn't write it but @s.sewell89 's first dice roll was a 6! Thus giving the Necrons the supply cache on the very first turn! This lead to the undead machines turning very defensive and holding down their deployment zone with an iron fist!
The Tau now had to be on the offensive and wipe out as much of the Necron force as they could before reinforcements started to turn up.
For the next 3 turns the Tau unleashed everything they could on the Necrons, killing the Annihilation Barge, a lychguard, some warriors and taking wounds off of the Doom Scythe and Ghost Ark but as the Necrons do so well the bulk of their forces remained and simply got back up again. The Tau created a corner of death practically encircling the Necrons in their deployment zone while the Necrons brought on reinforcements further down the board in a attempt to split the Tau's fire power and preserve the objective a little longer!
The final turns saw the Necrons hit back killing a few of the Tau's units and hold back any final pushes made by the greater good. A fun game all round and the new open war cards are great fun, I highly recommend them! #necrons #tau #batrep #gamesworkshop #warhammer40000 #warhammer40k #gamenight #tabletopgaming #miniwargaming #hobby
