Most people get excited when they see the number on the scale dropping, but for me I get that little bit of happiness and excitement thinking "progress! At last" then it's overtaken by panic and fear. Am I eating right? Am I eating enough? Am I still strong? How much more weight will I lose? Making the transition to a plant based diet was key for me to be healthier but also to lose weight, it's something that I've struggled to do but ive realised that I just wasn't in the right mindset to do it, I had other goals to focus on, I wasn't overly happy with my bodyweight or how I looked sometimes but knowing what I could lift and that I was getting stronger more than made up for that, but now I have the time and the need to focus on my own body, my physical wellbeing and for that I needed to get leaner and fitter and just generally healthier.
I'm working towards a 100% plant based diet, not quite there yet but I'm happy with that but is a longer term goal, I needed to cut out dairy completely and minimise my meat intake, I still have chicken and/or fish twice a week and that suits me, I'm actually a lot happier and healthier for it.
I've lost 10.5kg since the beginning of August, I'm taking the time to get over a back pain flare up before I start powerlifting again so I'm using this time to build up my fitness, work on my mindset so that I'm fully prepared when my new program starts and I get stronger than I've ever been!
