I am healthy and happy.
#mindfulmantras Day 2. ✨✨✨ I haven't always been happy, or healthy for that matter. I've struggled with depression, anxiety, self harm. I've had majorly unhealthy habits (drinking and drugs, Mountain Dew all day long, obsessing over calories or what a scale said). But somehow I turned it around. I started practicing yoga, started meditating, started running, started caring about myself. I've become a healthy, happy me. Not every day is all sunshine and roses, but you need some darkness to appreciate the light.

I decided today I would start my meditation challenge outside. Someone had other ideas and decided his morning massage was happening first. And then I remembered today's mantra. "All is well in my life" and so it is. I'm looking forward to the next 21 days of positive vibes from lovely ladies @super_curly_gurl and @mynameisgrowth and @laurabomb13 #mindfulmantras Now back to meditation.

Day 1 of #mindfulmantras. I don't know about anyone else but whenever we all (the dogs are under the duvet) get into bed, there are just moments of perfection. Nothing else matters and I am completely at peace. It's one of my favourite moments of the day.

"I am healthy and happy"
I woke up this morning with a panic attack. Those aren't fun. I haven't had a panic attack in a while but for some reason it took me like a bolt of lightening and all I kept telling myself that this was it and that God was taking me home. Eventually I calmed down after my husband put some understanding to it. I need to not take things so life and deathish (I know it's not a word) and just let go of everything and allow God to do what He does so perfectly.

A workout routine can be, well, a routine, and a lot of times it’s the mind that takes the front seat to drive us to our goals. Meditation can help us with that; it can help calm any doubts that we may have, and encourage us to cheer ourselves on. In the world where anything can stretch us out in too many directions, the same goes for exercising, meditating can help slow us down, find that centre and pay closer attention to what we are doing and if we are making the right decisions. With the blink of an eye, anyone can become a victim of being pressured by doing more and more; meditation can help us understand our limitations, also, when we hit the wall it can guide us to see the things differently. Exploring our expectations is an important first step in nurturing acceptance. ✨

#Acceptance is translated in Latin as “to find rest in” and brings about calm and a peaceful mind. When practiced, the energy of reality offers a gift of a new way to experience everyday life. Acceptance presents us with a great open window. We can be stretched to grow, shift our frequency (find more positive responses) and explore other aspects of our coping mechanisms.

Started the morning at CMU with @globalshapers_pgh and other Shapers from Detroit/Karachi, Pakistan/Goa, India/LA/Cleveland/Lancaster/Charlotte about our city of Pittsburgh and all things #YNGBLKPGH, a special thank you goes to @quirkielanie and @allycepinchback for getting us to represent the city on the panel!!! Next we ran downtown to work with our @yachieverspgh team + students on their #MindfulMantras, I'll just say you'd be impressed!!! Then we went to work with @toolstogive and @chalishenderson on a commercial for her vision of changing the face of what philanthropy looks like!! Can't wait to share more with you about what that looks like!! All in a days work!!!

Today marks the #newmoon in Libra. The ☀️ sun and 🌙 moon are sitting exactly opposite the planet Uranus.
Uranus represents the invitation to expand our minds beyond our conditioning and any preconceived ideas of what is possible. ✨

In yoga they talk about samskaras – the thoughts and impressions, hidden deeply in our mind, that are not based in truth. For example: 📍not feeling worthy or good enough
📍feelings of negative judgment of self or others
📍feeling unloved
📍needing to be liked
📍needing to be right
📍needing to be in control

What samskaras are you noticing?

Observing young children at play 🙊🙉🙈can provide us with an example of Beginner’s Mind. When at play, children are exploring, discovering, and inventing. They are not thinking of everything that must be accomplished in the day. They aren’t preoccupied with the afternoon, the evening, or tasks they need complete. They are engaged in the broad and minute details of the moment, and the wonder of its unfolding. 🦋 Children at play are open to all possibilities.

🌅 Finding the perfect quote to describe our inner feelings, goals and aspirations can be very comforting knowing someone out there understands. However these days it's difficult to go a day without seeing an inspirational message, mindful mantra or motivational quote everywhere in our waking lives. Consequently, the power of the individual meaning is lost amongst a sea of virtue. And at worst, overuse creates a mess full of contradiction and false beliefs. Although lending to a well-crafted online persona, but often void of authenticity and true feeling. It's easy to become reliant on someone else's thoughts and words and we forget to look within and find our own words for expressing ourselves.🌄
